SATELLITE CATEGORY GUIDE
Amazon Leo Satellite Directory: Tracking a LEO Broadband Constellation
The Amazon Leo category groups spacecraft associated with Amazon's low Earth orbit broadband system, previously widely known during development as Project Kuiper. The directory is an orbital catalog view: choose one spacecraft to open its calculated live position and local pass tools.
Why low Earth orbit is used for broadband constellations
LEO spacecraft orbit much closer to Earth than traditional geostationary communications satellites. The shorter radio path can reduce propagation delay, but a single LEO spacecraft covers a smaller area and moves across the sky. Broadband systems therefore use many satellites, ground infrastructure and network handoffs rather than one stationary-looking satellite.
The tracker visualizes orbital motion only. It does not show customer service coverage, network capacity, beam pointing, gateway links or operator telemetry.
Use the dedicated constellation tool
For the main browsing and tracking experience, open the Amazon Leo Satellite Tracker. You can compare its LEO ground motion with the nearly fixed geometry of the Geostationary Satellites directory or with another LEO broadband group such as OneWeb.
How this directory works
Use this page to identify one Amazon Leo spacecraft, then open that object’s tracker for its calculated ground position and local pass geometry. The directory represents orbital objects individually; it does not model customer coverage, gateway links or network capacity.
LEO spacecraft can change orbit during deployment and orbit raising, so fresh orbital elements matter. A calculated track is useful for understanding motion, but it should not be treated as operator telemetry or as a statement about broadband service availability.
What to remember about accuracy
Frequently asked questions
Is the position direct spacecraft telemetry?
No. The live map is calculated from public orbital elements.
Does appearing in this directory mean a satellite is operational?
No. Catalog membership and mission status are different things.
Can I track one object in more detail?
Yes. Select one Amazon Leo object and open its tracker to calculate observer-relative geometry from your chosen location.
