SATELLITE CATEGORY GUIDE
Galileo Satellite Directory: European Navigation Spacecraft in MEO
Galileo is the European Union's global navigation satellite system. The category above lets you browse catalogued Galileo spacecraft and open an individual orbital tracker to study medium Earth orbit motion and local sky geometry.
What the tracker helps you understand
Navigation satellites are placed so users can see several spacecraft from many locations around the world. Their higher altitude gives them a larger visible footprint than low Earth orbit satellites, while their motion remains obvious over the course of hours. The constellation geometry changes continuously as Earth rotates and the satellites progress through their orbits.
SpaceTracker.live shows a calculated orbit from public elements. It does not validate Galileo service availability, signal integrity, authentication features or satellite health.
Compare navigation systems
Explore GPS, GLONASS and BeiDou to compare catalogued navigation fleets. For a deeper explanation of multi-satellite geometry, the GPS Satellite Tracker provides a dedicated educational guide.
How this directory works
Select an individual Galileo spacecraft to move from the constellation directory to one specific MEO orbit. The tracker then calculates that satellite’s position and observer-relative geometry from the available public orbital elements.
The orbital calculation helps explain constellation geometry, but it does not measure Galileo signal quality, integrity or official service status. Those navigation-system questions should be checked with authoritative Galileo information.
What to remember about accuracy
Frequently asked questions
Is the position direct spacecraft telemetry?
No. The live map is calculated from public orbital elements.
Does appearing in this directory mean a satellite is operational?
No. Catalog membership and mission status are different things.
Can I track one object in more detail?
Yes. Open one Galileo spacecraft and use the individual tracker for its calculated position, azimuth, elevation and range from your location.
